This is where your package begins! Voyages Coste, the agency specializing in snowmobile tours in the Côte-Côte-Nord region, accompanies you remotely and watches over you as a social and solidarity economy company.
Traveling more than 1000 kilometers from Baie-Comeau to Baie-Johan-Beetz by snowmobile on the trails marked and maintained by Transport-Québec is not a trivial experience! It's an adventure that includes an off-road expedition in Minganie. Meet a Costier who will accompany you on a typical experience in the tundra and the boreal forest.
Information before departure:
Voyages Coste must ensure that the service providers are open at the time of your stay and reserves the right to modify the packages in the event of the closure or non-reopening of the service providers initially included, by offering customers equivalent solutions.
DAY 1. : Baie-Comeau
It is here in Baie-Comeau that the itinerary of your Côte-Nord package begins. You can access the Côte-Nord trail network by the TQ93 from the Valin Mountains and more generally, from the Saguenay - Lac-Saint-Jean (trail 93). If you arrive from the Quebec City region by the TQ3, the Baie-Sainte-Catherine-Tadoussac ferry will allow you to cross the mouth of the Saguenay Fjord to reach the North Shore region. The North Shore also has the only ferry in continuous service between the two shores of the St. Lawrence. The N.M. F.-A.-Gauthier connects Baie-Comeau and Godbout to Matane, in the Gaspé Peninsula, year-round. As the vessel accommodates snowmobiles, snowmobilers can be seen embarking and disembarking each day, en route to either shore. Remember to book your crossing in advance to ensure you have a place on board. Above the Manicouagan River, you will cross the longest snowmobile bridge in North America! At 213 meters (700 feet) long, it rises nearly 28 meters (90 feet) into the air! Snowmobilers love it!
Before you arrive in Baie-Comeau, a few kilometres from the village of Portneuf-sur-Mer is a 30-metre (100-foot) long bridge that crosses the Portneuf River. In the evening, it lights up to make the atmosphere special. Check-in at the Grand Hotel in Baie-Comeau or similar.
Day 2: Baie-Comeau to Sept-Îles (286 KM)
The Raid nordique is a dream place for snowmobilers who love wilderness and the great outdoors. You will use the Trans-Québec 3 (TQ3) trail. After a busy day, check in to the Hotel Sept-Îles or similar.
Day 3: Sept-Îles / Havre-Saint-Pierre (249 KM)
Departure for Rivière-au-Tonnerre (149 KM) to review the itinerary with Voyages Coste, at 454 Jacques Cartier, Rivière-au-Tonnerre, Tel.: 1-877-573-2678 or (418) 465-2002. The trail is punctuated by several lookouts with views of the river. Just before you arrive in Rivière-au-Tonnerre, a bridge spans the picturesque Manitou River. Take advantage of your stop in Rivière-au-Tonnerre, the gateway to the Minganie to do a small tasting of local products with the cooperative's team and a meeting with the descendants of the sculptor who decorated the magnificent wooden church of Rivière-au-Tonnerre. The purpose of these meetings with the locals is to share our environment with you. The team of our cooperative will accompany you remotely during your discovery tour in the land of the poet Roland Jomphe.
After this little dynamic break to warm up and exchange with the people in the community, you will continue your journey to the capital of Minganie, Havre-St-Pierre, which formerly bore the name of Havre aux Esquimaux. The
TQ3 runs along and crosses other rivers, between Sept-Îles and Havre-St-Pierre, in addition to picturesque villages such as Magpie, Rivière-St-Jean, Longue-Pointe-de-Mingan and Mingan.
When you arrive in Havre-St-Pierre (100 KM), in the land of the Cayens, you will be greeted by locals who are delighted to give you a sustainable tourism experience in their fully autonomous chalets that pass near the snowmobile trail. Continental breakfast included in your chalet. Filling up with petrol on arrival at the stopover point is always advised.
You have several choices for the restaurant in Havre-St-Pierre. The restaurants are open 7 days a week until 9 pm.
Day 4. : Havre-St-Pierre / Baie-Johan-Beetz (156 KM) / Havre St-Pierre
Guided adventure to immerse yourself in the Taiga with your professional guide in accordance with the standards of Aventure Écotourisme Québec. Snow and blizzards cover the territory and offer impressive horizons. Meet the locals, pioneers of the northern immensity that unfolds before your eyes as you advance. The Excursion is designed to offer you an authentic experience in the land of the Cayens. Stop at the end of the TQ3 in Baie-Johan-Beetz, return to Havre-St-Pierre and meet a Costier who will accompany you in a typical experience in the tundra and the boreal forest. An ice fishing experience with a cayenne tasting will allow you to soak up the local flavors. From tasting Gin Betchouan, the local distillery's fetish product, to anecdotes from the community, you will keep warm memories on the shores of the Mingan Islands archipelago.
Day 5: Havre-St-Pierre / Port-Cartier (318 KM)
Before heading back, you can make a detour to Natashquan, Mingan, Longue-Pointe de Mingan and then to the moisie river. Arrive in Sept-Îles for lunch before continuing the drive to Port-Cartier. Accommodation at the hotel Le Q'Artier.
Day 6: Port-Cartier/end of our services
