Explore the Sand Flats
Tourisme Côte-Nord

Venturing out into the Pointe-aux-Outardes sand flats is like exploring the sea floor, but without any diving equipment! Four km long at low tide, the sand flats allows you to visit the largest shellfish bed in Quebec, see sea grass beds and a seal haul-out (resting area) and collect many mysterious specimens from the sea. Be an oceanographer's apprentice and collect specimens to be identified in the laboratory. Try this typical coastal pastime with rubber boots, shovel and a bucket ... just like the locals!
