In Havre-Saint-Pierre, visit all three levels of the Romaine-1 generating station. Go under a penstock (pipe that carries water to the turbine) and feel the power of water used to generate electricity. View images of a 400-ton rotor being installed and learn about how hydropower works. Walk along the top of the dam, view the station's reservoir and admire the stunning view of the valley. Drop into the Pélagie-Cormier Centre for our exhibit (in French only) on efforts to conserve our environmental heritage. Reservations required.
From June 13 to August 19. Depart at 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday to Thursday. By reservation only at www.hydroquebec.com/visit. Average duration: 2 hours 30 minutes.
