The next edition of the Festival marin des Escoumins will take place August at the Centre de découverte du milieu marin (CDMM). With its wide array of activities, the festival lets you discover a region known for the diversity of its marine life and the splendor of its seadbed.
Regional winner of the Grand Prix du Tourisme Québécois in 2011, the Festival marin des Escoumins operates an event that is very unique and innovative in North America. It takes place at the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine park, a marine protected area. The honorary presidents, Danielle Alary and Michel Gilbert, are proud to collaborate with the magazine, En Profondeur. They’ll share with you their experience and passion.

Saturday, September 1
8 a.m. to 3 p.m.: An underwater treasure hunt with divers search for hidden tresures in the depths of the water.
3 p.m.: A workshop on underwater photography will provide techniques to better capture your images.
5:30 pm and 7:30 p.m.: Enjoy a magical experience with our multimedia show and film produced by the Réseau d’observation de mammifères marins at 9 p.m.
9:30 p.m. Don’t miss night dives broadcated live on our wide-screen TV. Divers will show you high-definition images of the flamboyant colors of northern red anemones, starfish, and bright silver fish.
Photography contest open to all!
On Sunday, the day will start with a live photography contest. Under the supervision of a photography expert from Lozeau, submit your best shots fro 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Afterwards, a workshop on underwater photography equipment will be held. You are also invited to participate in the photogrpahy contest. The best pictures in each category will be published in the magazine, En Profondeur, by the Fédération québécoises des activités subaquatiques and showcased in exhibits at various Parks Canada ceneters: Marine Environment Discovery Center, Cap de Bon-Désir Interpretation and Observation Center at Bergeronnes and Pointe-Noire Interpretation and Observation Center at Baie-Sainte-Catherine.
An outdoor jazz concert under the moonlight and on the shore of the St. Lawrence River will be held Sunday evening.
