Access to the Côte-Nord

Côte-Nord region is easily accessible by the Road 138, Road 172 or Road 389, by boat or aircraft.

 

By road:

If you are from Montreal or from Quebec, set off 138 in east direction. Cross the region of Charlevoix.To Baie-Sainte-Catherine, take the ferry, which offers the service free of charge all year long, 24 hours a day. A regular schedule is offered every 20 minutes in the daytime, every 40 minutes in the evening and every hour harm. Ten minutes are enough for arriving at Tadoussac, front door of the region Côte-Nord. From Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, take Route 172 South via the Dubuc Bridge, towards St-Fulgence, heading to Sacré-Cœur and Tadoussac, for a distance of approximately 110 kilometers.For information, communicate with the Société des traversiers du Québec at : 1 877.787.7483, or at www.traversiers.com.

 

By bus:

Bus service between Québec City and Havre-Saint-Pierre via all major towns. Bus charters departing from Côte-Nord. Sept-Îles Station, 126 rue Mgr-Blanche. Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 7:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.

 

By air:

Baie-Comeau Airport

Pascan Aviation has a fleet of 23 turboprop aircraft, of which 17 fly daily to 17 regional destinations in QUébec and Labrador. This ferry service runs between Matane on the Gaspé Pensinsula and Baie-Comeau or Godbout in Côte-Nord. Schedule: Year-round; 2 to 6 crossings per day, depending on the season. Average length: 2 hr. 20 min. Rates: Visit the website for rates. The Tadoussac-Baie-Sainte-Catherine ferry on Route 138 links the Charlevoix region with Côte-Nord. The free 10-minute crossing gives you time to relax on deck and breathe the bracing sea air before continuing your journey. It's a unique opportunity to admire the majestic Saguenay Fjord and the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park, located in the biggest estuary in the world. Schedule: Year-round. Departures: Every 13 or 20 minutes during the day; every 40 or 60 minutes in the evening and at night. Length: 10 minutes. Rates: Free.

This ferry service runs between Trois-Pistoles on the south shore of the St. Lawrence and Les Escoumins in Côte-Nord. Enjoy a safe crossing aboard the L'Héritage I. You might even spot a few whales on the way. In 2013, the company celebrated its 100th anniversary. Schedule: May to October. Average length: 90 minutes. Rates: Reserve by phone or online.


CARGO SERVICE AND FERRIES

Lower-North-Shore - Relais Nordik

From mid-April to mid-January, Relais Nordik Inc. offers weekly passenger and cargo service to the Lower North Shore. Passengers can board the vessel at various ports of call, including Rimouski, Sept-Îles, and Blanc-Sablon, for an authentic North Shore adventure. The ship makes stopovers at six remote villages: Kegaska, La Romaine, Harrington Harbour, Tête-à-la-Baleine, La Tabatière, and Saint-Augustin, and also serves Anticosti Island (Port-Menier). One-way (upstream or downstream) and roundtrip tickets are available and there is also space in the cargo section for vehicles (upstream or downstream). Connections are possible via regional air services. During the tourist season, reservations are required for passengers and vehicles (up to 90 days in advance for trips east of Natashquan and 30 days for Anticosti Island). The carrier accepts no-obligation pre-bookings beginning November 15 of the year preceding passage.

Visitors aboard the M/V Les Eaux Scintillantes will fall in love with this region when sailing to Harrington Island, where the Québec movie La Grande Séduction (Seducing Dr. Lewis) was filmed. Saint-Augustin River Ferry

The Esprit-de-Pakuashipi, the only hovercraft of its kind in Québec, links the communities of Pakuashipi and Saint-Augustin. This amphibious vehicule can carry up to 16 passengers and offers a safe, comfortable ride. Schedule: Year-round, except when "La Route Blanche" (the White trail) is open. Departures: 8 to 20 departures per day, depending on the schedule. Lenght: 10 minutes. Rates: Free.
