Description

Head north-east of Havre-Saint-Pierre to Romaine-1 generating station, commissioned in 2015. Start your tour at the Portail Pélagie-Cormier building and browse the exhibition on environmental and heritage conservation. From there, you will take the road aboard an electric bus to the generating station where you can walk along the top of the dam and marvel at the station's reservoir and stunning view of the valley. Your tour guides will have you walk under a penstock (pipe that carries water to the turbine) where you'll feel the power of water used to generate electricity. You'll also learn all about the efforts being made to preserve salmon habitats. A fascinating and rewarding experience awaits! Reservations required.
