40 km east of Natashquan, is our last stop: Kegaska. We're here!... At the end of the world? Not quite, but it's the end of Route 138 that connects the North Shore to the rest of Quebec and also the beginning of the Lower North Shore.

The village centred on the commercial lobster, crab and scallop fishery has only been connected to the road since 2013. We'd be crazy to have walked all this way without taking a picture of the sign that indicates the end of Route 138. You can also walk along walking trails covered with dusty shells and white sand. Another great discovery!

As a bonus, Route 138 from Vieux-Fort to Blanc-Sablon

There is an 82km portion of Route 138 (Route de la Chicoutai) that connects the eastern end of the Lower North Shore, from Vieux-Fort to Blanc-Sablon. We board the Bella-Desgagnés ferry and drive along the coast and the small isolated villages. From Kegaska, you can also take the white road, accessible only by snowmobile once winter is well established. An equally memorable adventure! Otherwise, you can also get to the Lower North Shore by car by doing the big loop via Expedition 51 from Baie-Comeau. Another 1700 km roadtrip in the hinterland and in a completely different, but equally breathtaking setting... We're going?
