Exploring my Côte-Nord, and yours too!

Hi! My name is Ann-Édith, and I'm behind the Capelan business, a clothing boutique featuring the Côte-Nord. When I'm not creating illustrations in collaboration with local artists, I'm working on a thousand and one projects to highlight the Côte-Nord and the people who live or visit here. Because this region moves me, shakes me up, and fascinates me for 37 years. I'm a native of Baie-Comeau, and I've been living in Gallix, near Sept-Îles, for nearly 10 years. It's a small, close-knit community living by the sea in a former fishing village. In recent years, I've had the chance to explore the territory in many ways, from Tadoussac to Tête-à-la-Baleine, passing through Fermont and Anticosti Island. Here, we get around by car, motorcycle, bicycle, train, kayak, boat, and plane. Here, all means of transportation are good for embarking on an adventure. Here, there is so much to see, to do, to experience!

Last year, Tourism Côte-Nord entrusted us with the creation of 21 illustrations to showcase the municipalities of the region, in order to distribute stickers in tourist offices. The goal was to accompany visitors on their road trips. The project was so popular that this year we created 16 new small works of art to stick and collect. In total, there are 39 illustrations representing the municipalities between Tadoussac and Blanc-Sablon that will be distributed this summer. The pride of seeing so many people around a project and a common goal was inspiring.

The Côte-Nord is 1,300 kilometers of shoreline north of the St. Lawrence River. It's also a multitude of issues. Life in Port-neuf-sur-Mer is not the same as in Blanc-Sablon, even though the sense of belonging to the region is undeniable for everyone. Each sticker is unique. Each municipality questioned what it wanted to showcase. From an interview with them, from our knowledge of the Côte-Nord, we created our Côte-Nord in images. A big and beautiful team effort!

Each piece was thought out with sensitivity, created with inspiration in the heart, and delivered with a little nervousness in the stomach, hoping that each municipality would be proud of the work accomplished. I think we succeeded in our bet. It will be up to you to judge throughout the summer.

In the coming weeks, I will search for beautiful stories to tell. I want to collect stories from people proud of their North Shore roots and from tourists happy with their visit to the region and their discoveries. I hope to meet you. I hope to discuss with you your favorite tourist spots, what drives you, what makes you proud to be here, with us, with you. This summer, I'm going to explore my Côte-Nord, and yours too! See you soon!
